New SAFAS floc software on the way
The original SAFAS v0.1.0 was built in 2019 (during a research visit to TU Delft) as tool for the semi-automated analysis of floc sedimentation videos. Over time I assisted several users with SAFAS v0.1.0 – thank you for your patience! – and realized there were many flaws. So, I have re-written SAFAS (v1.0.0) to improve user and developer experience.
The major goals were to:
- Improve user experience and productivity by making the UI more intuitive, easier to control (i.e. setup and run an analysis with fewer clicks), and more informative (clearer event and error messages)
- Improve developer experience and productivity by simplifying the architecture (many fewer modules, signal & slots are easier to follow)
As of now the plans are to:
- Complete SAFAS v1.0-beta. The currently available pre-release is not suitable for production use.
- Setup representative test videos and an updated set of instructional docs.
- Archive SAFAS v0.1. A .zip archive will be available on GitHub for the foreseeable future.
- Find and teach more users.
